• Create and maintain GIS databases for flight planning of NASA airborne LiDAR missions.
• Perform data analysis, DEM creations, interpolations, projections, conversions, and statistical analysis of aircraft LiDAR and ancillary datasets using Python, IDL, or UNIX shell scripts.
• Create and maintain the Land, Vegetation, and Ice Sensor (LVIS) webpage. (http://lvis.gsfc.nasa.gov)
• Integrate weather models into GIS for flight planning, and weather-related decisions during field missions.
• Create 3-d models, virtual fly-throughs, and xover analysis using LiDAR data and visible imagery.
• MySQL database scripting and management of satellite LiDAR database.
• Assist in GPS setup and data processing.
• Provide support for the ICESat project – NASA’s first satellite LiDAR altimeter. Tasks include: programming, mapping, database management, computer graphics, and desktop publishing.
• Create publication quality graphics for peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional scientific meetings.
• Digitize existing hardcopy maps for integration into digital geodatabases.
• Revived a NASA project to map the Antarctic ice shelves using RADAR altimetry data.
